JOURNEY
Every life has a story.
Mine isn’t unusual because of the places I’ve lived, the businesses I’ve helped build, or the boardrooms I’ve sat in.
It’s the story of a God who has been quietly faithful through seasons I understood and seasons I didn’t.
Looking back now, I can see a thread that I couldn’t always see while I was living it.
That’s the Journey I’d like to share with you.
Chapter One
The Tapestry
Every journey has moments that make little sense while we’re living them.
For much of my life, I’ve imagined standing behind a great tapestry. From that side, the threads appear tangled. Colours seem disconnected. Knots interrupt the pattern. There is little order and even less clarity.
Looking back now, I no longer see isolated events. I see threads.
England. Guernsey. Texas. Success and failure. Loss and restoration. Friendships, businesses, books, unexpected conversations, and the quiet faithfulness of God weaving through them all.
What once felt random now feels remarkably purposeful.
That realisation has changed the way I live. It has shaped how I lead, how I build, how I listen, and how I sit with people whose own stories still feel unfinished. We rarely see the whole picture while we’re living it, and perhaps we were never meant to.
The Front Porch exists because of that truth.
It’s a place for those carrying tangled threads, beautiful threads, or—like most of us—a little of both.
Perhaps the Weaver is still creating something more beautiful than you can currently see.
Chapter Two
Learning to Live Again
There are seasons in life that don’t simply ask us to recover.
They ask us to become someone new.
Learning to Live Again grew out of one of those seasons.
It isn’t a book about getting back to where life was.
It’s about discovering that God sometimes builds something even more beautiful than we imagined before.
Chapter Three
Building
For many years I thought business was what I did.
Now I think it is simply one of the places I get to love people well.
Helping leaders build healthier organisations is still deeply meaningful to me.
It just no longer tells me who I am.

Chapter Four
Home
Some people collect awards.
Others collect stories.
Lately I’ve discovered that home has become one of the greatest teachers in my life.
The Front Porch wasn’t created in an office.
It began on a quiet balcony among trees.

Chapter Five
One Step
Every meaningful life is built one faithful step at a time.
The destination matters.
But faithfulness has always been found in today’s step.
Not tomorrow’s.
Chapter Six
Looking Ahead
I don’t know exactly where this journey leads.
I hope to write more.
Speak more.
Travel more.
Help build businesses that outlast their founders.
See men discover their identity in Christ.
Spend more evenings on the porch.
Meet remarkable people.
